Mobile Grooming Franchise Myths
Dog Grooming Franchises exist to make the franchisor, not you, rich! They tell you things such as, "you will own your own business," or "ours is a working model." Don't fall for it!
-
Yes, you legally own your own business when you purchase a mobile grooming franchise; but are you really going to feel like you own your own business when you are required to operate your business the way the franchisor wants? Or when you are required to wear their uniform? Or when you send them your monthly royalty check, often as high as 8%? Or when you aren't allowed to try an innovative idea? You know you're smart enough to do it on your own!
-
With a franchise, your profits will be much lower than if you were allowed to keep them for yourself.
-
You may not want to be associated with the franchise's reputation. Our company-owned mobile grooming business has grown substantially because of the negative reputation of a competing franchise.
-
The words "exclusive territory" are used by the franchisors to make you think that you will have a huge advantage in your market. Keep in mind that you would still be competing with entrepreneurs who can beat your price by at least what your royalty checks would amount to. As mentioned earlier, franchising is to make the franchisor rich, not you. Think about it for a moment. Let's say, hypothetically, a franchisor is selling "territories" with a 50,000 human population for $100,000 each. In the United States, that would mean that the franchisor's goal is to sell about $600,000,000 in territories to the public. This is before the franchisor even makes a penny in royalties! Selling you a "territory" is what franchisors care about. The truth is that you, if you want it, already have that territory! The dogs are there and you don't need a franchise to go out and get them.

You may have heard that "there is nothing new under the sun." The franchise companies can't really offer you anything that you cannot figure out or take care of yourself. So don't be quick to buy into their "system." If it is "pearls" that you are looking for, then check out our "10 tips for running a successful mobile grooming business."
